We’ve seen GameSalad used in middle schools all the way up to post-graduate classes, but the majority of our students are in 4th-10th grade.
Many of today’s students are digital natives who are comfortable with sophisticated authoring tools and embrace the “maker” mentality — GameSalad is a great fit for these students. As a result, we see more and more students in middle school using the product as well.
For younger learners, GameSalad is a great tool for project-based learning activities, and can also be used in deconstruction exercises, where a game with familiar mechanics and concepts is introduced and demonstrated, and then is examined and modified in a series of cause-effect experiments. (“What do you think will happen if we increase the effect of gravity on the player?”).
